The Slovene school national-defensive organisation Družba Sv. Cirila in Metoda (the Society of St. Ciril and Metod) payed its attention — beside its basic task: founding and maintaining a net of private Slovene nursery and primary schools — to other problems, among them to emigration as well. In the Calendars of the Society of St. Ciril and Metod we find articles on various questions concerning Slovene emigration. First contributions appear during AustroHungarian Monarchy; the majority are from the 2nd half ofthirties of the 20th century. Characteristic for the first articles are literary and emotional manner of writing, and for later contributions that they were based on literature and sources and written in a liberal »Yugoslav« spirit. Much attention is payed to reasons for emigrating, consequences of World economic crisis for emigration and life of emigrants dissuading from emigrating, number of emigrants, their organising in individual countries. Special attention is payed to Slovene emigrants in Westfalia and Belgium. In conclusion the author compares the numbers of emigrants, quoted by various authors for individual countries or continents in the mentioned Calendars.
