In their article the authors present the development of both tanning and shoe-making trade in Kamnik in the 19th and the first half of the 20th century until the beginning of the World War II. They concentrate on the Knaflič tannery, the only one that has been preserved under the name UTOK. The article is an ethnological study and it aims to present the life and work of the one-time tanners and shoe-makers of Kamnik.
