The article is a shortened version of the treatise “Breg yesterday, Breg today and Breg tomorrow“, writen at the occasion of the renewal of the historical core of Novo mesto. It represents the characteristics of that part of the town, where the architecture immitates the nature of popular architecture, where each house has got its own garden. It is interesting to mention that this part of the town was attractive for the students of the Novo mesto Grammar school, who lived there as subtenants together with lower middle class.
