In the article the author describes the period when the Castle of Ljubljana was used for specific purposes: as a place ofinternment for militarily fit citizens of enemy countries, as a remand prison and as a prison for convicted persons. The castle had already been used as a prison in the past, but never before had there been so many members of different nationalities (more than 14), people of diverse education, classes and social origin, which points to the interesting criteria used by the Austrian authorities in determining its enemies.
