Description
The article deals with a trial held before the Provincial Court of Justice of Ortnek Manor in Carniola in the years 1732-34. The court trial was the result of a dispute between two peasant families, both of which carted goods - mostly from Trieste to Graz. When one of the peasants lost his money, the family turned to witchcraft in the hope of regaining the lost sum. As soon as it found out about this, the second family denounced the first. The testimonies made during the trial show how superstitious people were at the time. The main issue of the trail was witchcraft.
