Based on original documents from the Archives of Venice, the author depicts the presence and life ofthe Slovenian immigrants in Venice from the areas under Habsburg rule from the 15th to the 17th century. The author describes the waves of Slovenian immigration, the immigrants' places of origin (classified according to the towns they came from), their occupations, the places where they lived, their everyday lives within the family circle and the relations between relatives, friends and colleagues. The article also deals with their religious life and the relations between the Slovene community and the Venetian secular institutions. The author devotes particular attention to membership amongst the immigrants in the St. George and St. Trifun Brotherhood of Slavonic Immigrants. The author also includes a list of all the Slovenian immigrants mentioned in the archive documents at the end ofthe article.
