The article deals with the record ski jump of 101 metres of an Austrian Joseph Bradi at Planica on March 15, 1936. The author depicts the preparations to the competition and its course. In the first part of the article, the author points out that some elements of ski jumping originate from the old skiing tradition of the Bloka plateau, which, however, had no competitive element. International skiing competition at Planica in 1936 represents a turning point in international skiing and can be considered as a very beginning of the new ski jumping discipline - ski flying.
