After the founding of the lower Grammar School with mixed German-Slovene classes in Celje in 1895, the Grammar School question in Celje was far from being resolved. The balile for the Slovene school went on unlil the fall of the Auslro-Hungarian Monarchy. The battle for the Slovene Grammar School in Celje can be divided into two periods: al first, the balile went on only in the field of unsolved national relations belween the Slovenes and the Germans in the Monarchy. Later, however, this was joined by innerpolitical struggle among the Slovenes (the collapse of policy of concord) who saw the unsolved Grammar School question only as a pretence for promotion of their own policy, and the problem ilself was only of minor importance. Also after 1906, when the Styrian Slovenes tried to solve the Grammar School question in Celje under the patronage of the Lower Styrian National Council, the issue was not solved satisfactory.
