The contribution describesin detail the circumstances in the Carniolian district at the time of municipal elections in the years 1933 and 1936. In only three years between one and the others the political circumstances altered completely. In 1933 a regime party Jugoslovanska nacionalna stranka (Yugoslav National Party) dominated the political scene and with it the Slovene liberals while the clericals were in opposition. The regime people tried in various ways to disable them. The results of the elections were relevant to the situation - the majority of mayors in communities and members of communal boards were members of the regime party. In 1936 the circumstances turned. Together with the new party Jugoslovanska radikalna zajednica (Yugoslav Radicai Party) the people who were before in opposition came to power and they won the majority of mayor positions and those in communal boards.
