Description

The Snežnik castle is one of the few castles that survived the maelstroms of the war times without greater damage. The castle was in 1945 nationalised. Since then it has been administered by the Protocol Service Brdo. In the article the author describes the present arrangement of the castle interior and furnishing. She also mentions attempts to give the interior its original ambience which was altered during the after war arrangements. The castle and the forests of Snežnik were from 1853 in the possession of the Saxon princes from the Schönburg Waldenburg lineage who managed to build from the irrationally exploited forests and a decaying castle one of the most beautiful landed properties in Carniola.

      • Snežnik je eden redkih gradov, ki je brez večje škode preživel vihre vojnih časov. Leta 1945 je bil nacionaliziran in od tedaj ga upravlja vladna ustanova Protokolarni servis Brdo. Avtorica v članku govori o sedanji ureditvi grajske notranjščine ter notranje opreme in o poskusu vračanja prvotne podobe ambienta, ki so ga spremenile povojne preureditve. Grad in snežniški gozdovi so bili od leta 1853 v lasti saških knezov iz rodbinske linije Schönburg Waldenburg, ki so iz neracionalno izkoriščenih gozdov in propadajočega gradu z veliko pristavo naredili eno od najlepših posestev na Kranjskem.
