Description
In the age where Internet provides so many information and where most of them are only a simple click or a touch away, metadata and metadata standards are becoming more and more important concepts in an everyday use. This document analyses a structural design of SIstory application profile and metadata crosswalk between SIstory application profile and DCTERMS, which lays the basis for the analysis of metadata implementation on the portal SIstory.si. In the end, we can conclude that, as a whole, metadata implementation has been useful and effective. Both, the application profile and crosswalk are fulfilling their intentions and are useful to the portal, even though the emphasis has shifted during the process from user orientation and metadata elements simplification to machine readability and richer metadata descriptions of information objects_

      • Z razvojem Interneta, ki prinaša čedalje več informacij, metapodatki in metapodatkovni standardi postajajo čedalje bolj pomembni koncepti v našem vsakdanu. Predstavljena in opisana sta aplikacijski profil ter prehod med aplikacijskim profilom Sistory in DCTERMS, ki poda podlago za analizo implementacije metapodatkov na portalu. Gledano v celoti sta načina implementacije metapodatkov na portalu SIstory koristna oziroma efektivna, aplikacijski profil in prehod opravljata svoje naloge, čeprav se v procesu oblikovanja slednji zasuka iz poudarka uporabnika in poenostavljanja elementov na poudarek strojne berljivosti in bogatejšega opisovanja informacijskih objektov.
