Description

The Tuštanj castle was in possession of the Scaria family from the year 1800 when Ignaz Scaria bought it from count Xaver Lichtenberg, to 1873 when the last representative of the Scaria family Ignaz's granddaughter Maximiliana married Pirnat, died. Presented in the article is a genealogical survey of the Scaria family and their relatives, the quarter-of the century managing at Tuštanj; based on a relatively extensive, to the present time unknown correspondence, which is part of the Tuštanj manor archives, the unique relation between the lady of the manor Maximiliana Scaria and her fifteen years younger husband Luka Pirnat, at first the castle gardener, is illuminated.

      • The Tuštanj castle was in possession of the Scaria family from the year 1800 when Ignaz Scaria bought it from count Xaver Lichtenberg, to 1873 when the last representative of the Scaria family Ignaz's granddaughter Maximiliana married Pirnat, died.
