Description
The socialist state was paying special attention to children and youngsters. It wanted to take care of both, their “bodies” and “souls”. After the period of deprevation in the first postwar years authorities put in place a system that ensured free medical treatment, free education and a substantial degree of social security for the majority of children. Parallel was an educational process with the final goal to “build a new man”. Education in “the spirit of socialism” has started in kindergarten, then continued mainly in schools and pioneer organisations, but was also present in other organisations dedicated to education and entertainment of children.
