Description
Industrial age brought many innovations and changes. Among them there were also some negative, as diseases that were spreading through bigger industrial cities. Some, such as tuberculosis, scrofula and rickets were affecting children. Medical science was looking for suitable and effective methods of treating, which has found in sea water and air. Doctors were visiting places on the seaside in order to find locations for children shelters and convalescent centres. The paper analyses some cases and features of children’s convalescent centres of Austrian Littoral.

      • Industrijska doba je prinesla številne novosti in spremembe. Med njimi so bile tudi negativne, kakor pojav bolezni, ki so se širile po večjih industrijskih mestnih središčih. Nekatere, kakor tuberkuloza, skrofuloza in rahitis, so bile pogosto prisotne pri otrocih. Medicina je iskala primerne in učinkovite metode zdravljenja, ki jih je našla v morski vodi in zraku. Zdravniki so, v iskanju obmorskih lokacij, obiskovali morske kraje v želji, da bi tam lahko vzpostavili otroška zavetišča in okrevališča. Prispevek analizira nekatere primere in značilnosti otroških okrevališč Avstrijskega primorja.
