Description
Paper is representing children of different ages through songs of Slovenian folk heritage. At the beginning it is dealing with songs on the topic of pregnancy and preparations for the birth of a child. Then the author represents songs about the infant and its first years, about growing, when the child was – according to folk heritage – often molested by its parents, especially stepparents (stepmother), sometimes fatally. In the period of “mature” childhood, when girls and boys are stepping on the road of youth love, when they are suffering because of arranged marriages or they have to go to convent on their parent’s decision, some girls are even victims of abduction.
