Description
One of the key functions of castles in the Middle Ages was that of being the centre of a seigniory. In the first part
of the article the author describes the emergence and development of the network of castles with adjacent seigniories,
and in the continuation he focuses on some characteristics of castles in the aforementioned role.

- Ena od ključnih funkcij gradov v srednjem veku je bila funkcija središča zemljiškega gospostva. Avtor v prvem delu prispevka oriše vznik in razvoj mreže gradov s pripadajočimi zemljiškimi gospostvi, v nadaljevanju pa se posveti posameznim značilnostim, ki so lastne gradu v omenjeni vlogi.
