The author has described on the basis of archival and newspaper material and literature events in the Novo mesto district in the years 1929-1941. In the introduction the size, the number of population and the administrative regulation of the district are presented. After that the attention is dedicated to the factional cultural-educational and peasantry movement in the middle-class and particularly to communal and assembly elections. In the years 1931 and 1935 tlle SLS party abstained from them, which is partly valid for the 1933 communal elections as well. During the regime of the jugoslovanska radikalna zajednica - JRZ (Yugoslav Radical Community) the Slovene part of the JRZ persuasively won the 1935-1938 communal elections and the 1938 assembly elections.
