Description

National and ideological divisions in Slovenia from the middle of the 19th century to the beginning of World War I led to the formation of major cultural and political camps. By enumerating some examples, the author depicts the influence exerted on culture by politics and the effects of censorship. Particular emphasis is placed on the theatre and its related branch: the cinema, as well as on the cultural policies of political parties which influenced the financing of cultural institutions.

      • Nacionalne in idejne delitve od srede 19. st. pa do začetka 1. svetovne vojne so na naših tleh pripeljale do nastanka večjih kulturno-političnih taborov. Avtor z nekaterimi konkretnimi primeri osvetljuje vpliv politike na kulturo in delovanje cenzure. V tej luči sta posebej izpostavljena gledališče in z njim povezan kinematograf ter kulturna politika strank, ki je vplivala na financiranje kulturnih institucij.
      • In Krain liefen gegen Ende des 19. und zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts auf kultureller Ebene zwei Differenzierungsprozesse ab - ein nationaler und ein ideologischer. Institutionen und Vereine spalteten sich national wie auch politisch in drei große Lager: Deutsche, slowenische Klerikale und slowenische Liberale. Zwischen ihnen fand ein politischer Kulturkampf statt, der der Kultur selbst nicht eben nützte und vor allem den Slowenen beträchtlichen Schaden einbrachte. Der Krieg zwischen Liberalen und Klerikalen zerstörte vor Beginn des I. Weltkriegs das slowenische Landestheater und die slowenische Philharmonie, außerdem entzogen die Klerikalen - als sie später an die Regierung gekommen waren - einer ganzen Reihe von kulturellen Institutionen und Vereinen die finanziellen Zuwendungen. Ihren Höhepunkt erlebte diese Politik zu Beginn des I. Weltkriegs, als es den Klerikalen gelang, durch ein Verbot den Sokol-Vcrc'm lahmzulegen und unter dem Deckmantel außerordentlicher Maßnahmen jegliche Aktivität der liberalen Vereine im Keim zu ersticken. Es war dies eine Zeit, für die auch die hartnäckigeAblehnung der Klerikalen in Bezug auf die Wiederaufnahme des Spielbetriebs des slowenischen Theaters kennzeichnend ist, womit man Ljubljana angesichts der regulär ablaufenden Saisonen des deutschen Theaters auf kulturellem Feld ganz den Deutschen überließ. Die Kulturpolitik, wie sie von 1908 bis 1918 in Krain geführt wurde, ist alles andere als positiv zu nennen.
