Although the arrival of football on the sports scene in Ljubljana did not go unnoticed or unrecorded in the history of sports, iris not thoroughly researched. At least not the main turning points and events in the history of this sport The following article, however, focuses on the appearance of the phenomenon of football amongst the high-school students of Slovenia and the inhabitants of Ljubljana. The author depicts how the founding of the first football club as an institute of civil society was a turning-point in the development and popularizing of this modern sport in Slovenia.

      • Pojav "footballa" ali nogometa v Ljubljani v zgodovini športa na Slovenskem ni ostal nezabeležen, ni pa bil tudi temeljito raziskan, predvsem ne glavni mejniki in dejavniki. Zato se pričujoča razprava osredotoča na pojav nogometa med slovenskimi dijaki in med ljubljanskim meščanstvom. Ravno ustanovitev nogometnega kluba, kot instituta civilne družbe, je bila temeljnega pomena za razvoj in uveljavitev te moderne športne panoge.
      • Der Fußball als moderne Sportart entstand und entwickelte sich auf der englischen Insel und breitete sich von dort auf den europäischen Kontinent aus, wobei Ljubljana und das slowenische Gebiet keine Ausnahme waren. In Ljubljana fand der Fußball sowohl unter Deutschen als auch unter Slowenen seine Anhänger. Für die Durchsetzung des Fußballs in Ljubljana waren zweifellos jene Schüler von besonderer Bedeutung, die sich im Schülerfußballklub Hermes trafen, sowie eine Gruppe von Laibacher Bürgern im Klub Illyrien, die in ihren neu gegründeten Klub auch die Mehrheit der Fußballspieler aus dem Klub Hermes aufnahmen. Die Gründung des Klubs Illyrien ist für die Entstehung eines Modells der Sportorganisation und für die Durchsetzung der sportlichen Tätigkeit als regulierte gesellschaftliche Dienstleistung in Ljubljana besonders wichtig. Im Beitrag werden folgende Themen zum ersten Mal einer genaueren Betrachtung unterzogen: die näheren Umstände der Anfänge des Fußballs, die ersten öffentlichen Spiele, die Gründung und Tätigkeit des Klubs Illyrien, das Dilemma über den Anschluß an die österreichische oder die kroatische Sportbranchen-Organisation sowie das Spiel gegen die Prager Slavija, das einen organisatorischfachlichen Meilenstein in der Geschichte des Fußballs in Ljubljana darstellt.
