Author is analyzing the role of the Slovene parliament – Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia (1990–1992) and the National Assembly of Republic of Slovenia (from 1992) –, in resolving the border dispute with the Republic of Croatia. The Slovene parliament was until now rather restraint and has left much of the initiative to the Government of Slovenia. There are only a few examples when Slovene parliament took a stand: in 1991 The fundamental constitutional document on autonomy and independence), in 1993 The Memorandum on Piran Bay, in 2001 Committee for international relations of the National Assembly confirmed the Drnovšek-Račan agreement and in 2009 the National Assembly accepted the Resolution on the protection of national interests.

      • Avtor v članku prikazuje vlogo slovenskega parlamenta – Skupščine Republike Slovenije (1990–1992) in Državnega zbora RS (od 1992 dalje) – pri urejanju razmejitvene problematike s Republiko Hrvaško. Ugotavlja, da se je slovenski parlament (njegov odbor za zunanjo politiko je po Ustavi RS najbolj odločilen dejavnik v zunanji politiki) v tej problematiki držal precej zadržano in je večino pobude in dejavnosti prepuščal Vladi Republike Slovenije. Slovenski parlament sam se je v zvezi s to problematiko oglasil samo v nekajkrat, ko je sprejel nekatere odločilne deklaracije in resolucije: (991 Temeljno ustavno listino o samostojnosti in neodvisnosti), 1993 Memorandum o Piranskem zalivu, 2001 je Odbor za mednarodne odnose DZ RS potrdil sporazum Drnovšek-Račan in 2009 DZ RS sprejel sklep o zaščiti slovenskih nacionalnih interesov.
