In the paper, the author deals with Slovenian banking - savings banks, credit cooperatives
and joint-stock companies - between the two World Wars. In particular, he
exposes their situation during the prosperous 1920s and the critical 1930s, also outlining the
reform of the banking system and means of stimulating saving. This is followed by an
analysis of the banking market structure and the effectiveness of monetary operations by the
Slovenian banks during that period.
