The paper deals with the local elections in the Koper District, in Zone B of the Free
Territory of Trieste, which was governed by the Military Government of the Yugoslav Army.
The first local elections, on 16 April 1950, were held in an atmosphere of pressure exerted
on those who opposed the Yugoslav authorities, while the second elections, on 7 December
1952, took place after the Free Territory of Trieste had already been partitioned.
