Description
The Slovene school museum was founded in the year 1898. The article describes the foundation and development of collections of teaching aids and school museums from the first half of 19th century onwards and especially the history of the foundation of the Slovene school museum. The motive power for its foundation was the association of Slovene teachers societies. The article gives a short presentation of museum's activities in the last hundred years, with the emphasis on its closure in 1912 and the reopening in 1938. At firts the Museum of Slovene schools as it was then called had only the department for primary schools, the department for secondary schools was established in 1940. In 1945 the museum was renamed Slovene school museum again.

      • Slovenski šolski muzej je bil ustanovljen leta 1898. Prispevek prikazuje nastanek in razvoj zbirk učil in šolskih muzejev od prve polovice 19. stoletja dalje, posebno podrobno pa predzgodovino in ustanovitev Slovenskega šolskega muzeja, za katerega nastanek je bila zaslužna takratna stanovska učiteljska organizacija Zaveza slovenskih učiteljskih društev. Kratko je prikazano muzejevo bogato stoletno delovanje, katerega pomembne postaje so njegova začasna ukinitev leta 1912 in obnovitev leta 1938 kot muzeja slovenskega šolstva, oddelka za ljudske šole. Najprej so tega leta odprli muzejev oddelek za osnovne šole, leta 1940 pa še oddelek za srednje in meščanske šole. Leta 1945 so muzej preimenovali v Slovenski šolski muzej, oddelek za osnovne šole, svoj sedanji naziv pa je dobil leta 1949, ko njegovo delovanje ni bilo več omejeno na osnovno šolstvo.
