The paper deals with the review of Slovenian historiography concerning the questions related to the so-called »foibe,« that is arrests, deportations and executions carried out by Yugoslav authorities during the occupation of entire Julian March (May 1 to June 12, 1945). Slovene historians started to deal with this topic only in the second half of the 80's, and the extent of research has been much smaller compared to the extensive research done by Italian historians. Among the most important reasons for this is the access to documents in Yugoslav and Slovenian archives which have slowly started to open at the beginning of the 80's; another are limited financial and personnel possibilities of Slovenia which cannot be compared to the Italian ones. - The second half of the paper tries to reveal the differences of interpretation of this topic between Slovenian and Italian historians, especially those concerning their more recent publications. The author feels that these interpretational differences are not really due to identifying particular components of this question, but rather due to their evaluation.
