Description
Paleographic and diplomatic analyses of the DO II 47 and DO II 66 documents revealed that like the former, the latter originated in the imperial office. It must have been written by a scribe who worked in the office only temporarily, but was nevertheless in excellent command of writing governmental documents. DO II 66 probably originated after an agreement of the legal deed of bestowal (actum, Heiligensladt) when due to an unknown reason the concept and the record of the document were written on an already sealed parchment. When the document was completed and delivered (datum, November 23, 973) it was possible to insert the name of Carniola which was originally missing in the text.
