Prof. Dr. Bogdan Krizman was born on July 28, 1913, in Varaždin in Croatia. After he had taken degree at Zagreb Faculty of Law, he also graduated, in 1939, from international law and history of diplomacy at Paris Ecole libre des sciences politiques. In the first years after the Second World War he was active in diplomacy, later on, howvever, he took up science. He made researches referring to Croatian and Yugoslav history of the 20th century, as well as the history of diplomacy of Dubrovnik. He was one of those who initiated foundation of the Institute for Croatian history at Zagreb University and was also the head of its scientific council in the first years of its existence.
