Salvatore Venosi (born November 30, 1938 in Žabnice/Camporosso/Seifnitz) studied modern languages on the University of Udine. He taught literary sciences on I. Gruden secondary school in Nabrežina/Aurisina. Contrary to many Kanaltalers he maintained strong links with Kanalska dolina/Val Canale, thus becoming (especially after resettling in the seventies) one of the prime movers of the minority policies in Val Canale after WW II. As a head of the Triest Slovene Research Institute branch he studied multilingualism and minority educational system, as well as cultural history of Val Canale. He died on September 18, 1996 in Jesenice.
