On the occasion of celebrating the sixtieth birthday of Dr. Andreas Moritsch (born November 28, 1936 in Draganče/Dragantschach), professor at the Historical Institute of the Celovec/Klagenfurt University, the author draws attention to Prof.Dr. Moritsch's research of Russian and Slovene (Carinthian) history, stating that with his book entitled Landwirtschaft und Agrarpolitik in Russland vor der Revolution Moritsch became known as one of the foremost international experts on Russian agrarian history. Furthermore, his research of socio-economic backgrounds of ethnic affiliation and polarisation in Austrian Carinthia gained an important insight into Slovene Carinthian as well as Slovene national history. As far as Moritsch's organisational and educational achievements are concerned, the author highlights numerous seminars, and especially the Bovec Summer School. Professor Moritsch's treatment of history, especially ethnocentricity, national political polarisation, and national ideologies, is marked by polemical criticism, and at the same time demonstrates a lively attachment to the world he comes from, and to its historical destiny.
