Dr. Jadran Ferluga was born on February 12th 1920. in Trieste. After the war he studied at the Sorbonne University and in Belgrade, wherw he graduated in 1949. He was a collaborator of the prominent expert for Byzantine studies Georgij Ostrogorski in the Seminary for Byzantine Studies in Belgrade. In the years 1957-1970, he held lectures at the Belgrade Faculty of Arts, then he took over the chair of Byzantine Studies in Münster, where he held his lectures until his retirement in 1989. At the same time he was a director of the Seminary for Byzantine Studies in this town. He is one of the leading European experts in Byzantine studies.

      • Dr. Jadran Ferluga se je rodil 12. februarja 1920 v Trstu. Po končani vojni je študiral na Sorbonni in v Beogradu, kjer je 1949 diplomiral. Bil je sodelavec znamenitega bizantologa Georgija Ostrogorskega v seminarju za bizantologijo v Beogradu. Med leti 1957 in 1970 je tam predaval na Filozofski fakulteti, potem pa je prevzel katedro za bizantologijo v Münstru, kjer je predaval vse do upokojitve 1989. Hkrati je bil tudi direktor tamkajšnjega seminarja za bizantologijo in jo eden vodilnih evropskih bizantologov.
