Peter Ribnikar was born July 30, 1925 in Retnje. In 1951 he graduated from history and geography at Faculty of Letters in Ljubljana. He got his post at the State Archives of the Republic of Slovenia (ARS) and worked there untill he was pensioned in 1988 (as councilor and Deputy Director). He authored several works on the archive sciences, and published many archival sources (including Slovenian Bondsmen-oaths at Patrimomai Court of Bled, Lj. 1976), as well as historic treatises based on the archive materials of the ARS and recently also of the arhives in Prague.

      • Peter Ribnikar seje rodil 30. julija 1925 v Retnjah. Leta 1951 je diplomiral iz zgodovine in geografije na ljubljanski filozofski fakulteti. Že konec 1950 se je zaposlil v (Državnem) Arhivu Republike Slovenije in tam ostal do upokojitve 1988 (kot arhivski svetnik in pomočnik direktorja). Napisal je številna dela s področja arhivistike, objavil pa tudi vrsto zgodovinskih virov (mdr. Slovenske podložniške prisege patrimonialnega sodišča Bled, Lj. 1976) in zgodovinskih razprav, ki temeljijo na gradivu ARS, v zadnjem času pa tudi na arhivskem gradivu iz Prage.
