In comparison with other Slovene provinces had the emigration from Primorje, the maritime province of Slovenia, between the World Wars along vvith common characteristics some specialities as well. As Primorje came under Italy after the first World War there appeared certain aspects of forced emigration from the home environment into the hinterland and to the south of Italy, and even to the newly conquered Ethiopia. Over 100.000 Slovenes and Croats left the Italian state; 70.000 of them have settled in Yugoslavia, the others, however, mostly in America and Western Europe.

      • V primerjavi z drugimi slovenskimi pokrajinami je imelo izseljevanje iz Primorske v obdobju med obema vojnama poleg skupnih značilnosti tudi nekatere posebnosti. Ker je Primorska po prvi svetovni vojni pripadla Italiji, se v tej pokrajini pojavijo oblike prisiljenega izseljevanja iz domačega okolja v notranjost in na jug Italije in celo v novoosvojeno Etiopijo. Italijansko državo je zapustilo preko 100.000 Slovencev in Hrvatov, od katerih se jih je 70.000 naselilo v Jugoslaviji, ostali pa predvsem v južni Ameriki in zahodni Evropi.
