Description
The governor general of Carniola and till autumn 1917 the head of the Catholic Slovene People's Party Dr. Ivan Šušteršič made on the initative of the Austrian Christian social policy several journeys to Switzerland in the years 1917 and 1918. He attended both congresses of the Internationale katholische Union whose intention was to support the peace initative of the Pope Benedict XV, as well as the international treaty of Catholic parliamentarians. He refused cooperation with the Yugoslav political emigration and there is no proof, whatever, he would have got from anyone else any assurances to solve the Yugoslav (Slovene) question at the end of the war.

      • Kranjski deželni glavar in do jeseni 1917 načelnik katoliške Slovenske ljudske stranke dr. Ivan Šušteršič je v letih 1917 in 1918 večkrat potoval v Švico na pobudo avstrijske krščansko socialne politike. Udeležil se je obeh kongresov Mednarodne katoliške Unije (= Internationale katholische Union) za podporo mirovni pobudi papeža Benedikta XV. in za mednarodni sporazum katoliških parlamentarcev. Odklonil je sodelovanje z jugoslovansko politično emigracijo in ni dokaza, da bi od kogarkoli drugega dobil kaka zagotovila za rešitev jugoslovanskega (slovenskega) vprašanja ob koncu vojne.
