Description
The contribution examines the migratory processes through the port of Trieste and the role the latter held within the transatlantic emigration from Eastern and Southeastern Europe. It focuses on the first and the most prominent among the three phases in the history of Trieste as a port of emigration, i.e. the years from 1903 to the middle of 1914, which coincided with the most conspicuous emigration from Austria-Hungary and from Eastern and Southeastern Europe as a whole to the New World.

- Prispevek obravnava migracijske procese skozi tržaško pristanišče in njegovo vlogo pri čezatlantski migraciji iz vzhodne in jugovzhodne Evrope. Osredotoča se na prvo, najvažnejšo, izmed treh faz v zgodovini Trsta kot emigracijskega pristanišča; na leta od 1903 do srede 1914, ki sovpadajo z najvidnejšim izseljevanjem iz Avstro-Ogrske in vzhodne ter jugovzhodne Evrope kot celote v Novi svet.
