The Slovene minority in Austrian Carlnthia has been confronted to nazism ever since the twenties. Due to the tradition of pan-German nationalism it spread rather soon and strongly ln this region, and can be met as neonazism up to these days. After the »Anschluß« ln March 1938 the Carinthlan Slovenes resisted the nazis more actively than other national minorlties or social groups ln »Ostmark«. Since the invasion to Yugoslavia in April 1941 and especlally since the deportation of approximately one thousand Carinthlan Slovenes in April 1942 the Liberation Front of the Slovene Nation and the partisan way of fighting spread widely. For the high price of numerous victims the resistance spread all up to the nazi capitulatlon.
