The authoress discusses two questions: first, how much the liberal-unitarian press was writing abot the French Revolution in 1929— 1940, and second, in what way it was writing about it and what was the message of its articles. The analysis of collected material indicates that the press devoted most of its attention to the 140th anniversary of the Revolution and to the 120th anniversary of foundation of Napoleon's Illyrian Provinces in 1929 and to Revolution's 150th anniversary in 1939. Estimations of the French Revolution are, however, mostly a reflection of ideal-political profile of the organs of individual parties, organizations and movements. This confirms the already known fact that the liberal circles were more and more disunited in the last decade of the old Yugoslavia and that from the democratic left to the nationalistic right.
