Description
France Ostanek was born on February 6, 1902 in Ljubljana and died there on June 2, 1989. In the years 1925—1935 he was a teacher in Sodražica and in Vodice. Within national-defensive St. Cyrill and Methodius Society and Minority Institute in Ljubljana he later devoted himself to ethnic and scholastic-ethnic studies. As a director (1951— 1974) he developed the Slovenian School Museum into an important museal, documentational and research institution. F. Ostanek was the author or editor of numerous papers, catalogues, miscellanies and periodicals on the slovenian and yugoslav school-history.

      • France Ostanek se je rodil 6. februarja 1902 v Ljubljani in tam umrl 2. junija 1989. V letih 1925—1935 je bil učitelj v Sodražici in v Vodicah, nato pa se je v okviru narodnoobrambne Družbe sv. Cirila in Metoda ter Manjšinskega inštituta v Ljubljani posvetil proučevanju narodnostnih in šolsko-narodnostnih vprašanj. 1951—1974 je bil ravnatelj Slovenskega šolskega muzeja, ki ga je razvil v pomembno muzejsko, dokumentacijsko in raziskovalno ustanovo. F. Ostanek je bil avtor ali urednik številnih razprav, katalogov, zbornikov in periodičnih publikacij o zgodovini slovenskega in jugoslovanskega šolstva.
