Description
We are to thank the rich and well preserved historical documents in the Dubrovnik Archives for discoverlng new data about musical life in Ljubljana in the middle of the 15th century. In 1455 the Dubrovnik government sent to Ljubljana a special delegate in order to find there three whistlers — musiclans to complete the ensemble of the prince's chapel. On basis of those documents we acquired a detailed biography of the first known musician of Slovene origin, Franciscus de Pavonibus from Ljubljana who served in Dubrovnik as archbishopal chancellor and organist from 1460 to 1483.
