Marija Verbič was born on the 29th of May in 1914 in Ljubljana. She studied history and geography at the Faculty of Arts In Ljubljana, where she took her university degree in 1938. She started her serving in Sentlenart and in Zagorje. In 1946 she took a job in the Archives of SR of Slovenia where she worked until her retirement in 1975. Her important works are the inventories of collections and funds. Her major work is the publishing of the Provincial-Chamber papers of the Carniolan States from the time of the emperor Maximillian I. Her pedagogical and mentor work in the Archives of SR of Slovenia is also important. She helped many researchers with their first steps.
