On 21st of April 1987 died Toussaint Hočevar, an economy historian, Professor at tlie University in New Orleans. T. Hočevar was born in Ljubljana on the 25th of June 1927. He took his doctoral degree in Innsbruck and served as professor on various American high schools and universities. His research work was directed mainly into the economic history of Slovenes especially economy of communication systems. In the last years he studied the position of Slovenes living on the perifery of the Slovene ethnic territory in Austria and Italy, and the beginning and developement of Slovene banking. With constant reviewing of Slovene scientific publications and with organising the Society for Slovene Studies T. Hočevar gained permanent merits for the Slovene science and culture.
