The archeologist dr. Peter Petru, being the head of the Archeological Section at the Institute for Monument Preservation of the SR of Slovenia (1958—1970) has provided for preservation of all the archeological monuments known until then. After 1970 he successfully conducted the National Museum in Ljubljana as its head. As expert and scientist he devoted his attention to the problems of antiquity. From 1975 he lectured provincial archeology at the University of Edvard Kardelj in Ljubljana as extraordinary professor. He wrote a synthetic survey of the archeological periods of Slovenia for History of the Slovenes (Cankarjeva založba — Cankar Publishing — House 1979).
