Description
The author discusses in this article the activity of the Slovene educational national-protective organization, called »Družba sv. Cirila in Metoda« (The Socicty of St. Cyril and St. Method), in Koroška (Carinthia). This organization was established in 1885 as a counterpoise to the activity of German, nationalistic organizations on the Slovene territory. In spite of various difficulties, among them the first one was the opposition of Carinthian liberals, the Society succeeded in creating a number of branch offices. Further on, the establishment of two Slovene private schools is specially mentioned: at Št. Rupert near Velikovec (St. Ruprecht b. Volkermarkt) and at Št. Jakob v Rožu (St. Jakob i. R.); the author also mentions the disagreements which arose among the Slovenes when the second mentioned school was being built.

      • Članek obravnava delovanje slovenske narodnoobrambne šolske organizacije, imenovane Družba sv. Cirila in Metoda, na Koroškem. Gre za organizacijo ustanovljeno leta 1885 kot protiutež delovanju nemškonacionalnih organizacij na Slovenskem. Kljub težavam, na prvem mestu je bilo nasprotovanje koroškega nemškega liberalnega tabora, je družba uspela na Koroškem ustanoviti vrsto podružnic. Dalje je v članku omenjena ustanovitev dveh slovenskih privatnih šol v Št. Rupertu pri Velikovcu / St. Ruprecht b. Volkermarkt in St. Jakobu v Rožu / St. Jakob i. R. ter nesoglasja, ki so nastala v slovenskem taboru ob gradnji druge šole.
