Description
Among the representatives of the East-Slovene Protestant movement a special place belongs to the pedagogue and methodist Adam Farkaš (1730— 1786). During the Counterreformation he was for 28 years chancellor of the known Protestant lyceum in Šopron. He prepared a transformationally and enlightenedly oriented curriculum. At his pedagogic and organizational work for the pupils of different nationalities he kept contacts with two distinguished Slovak Lutherans; deliberately, however, he also took care for the education of the Slovene Protestant youth, who, after the assertion of the tolerance law, began to revitalize the Lutheran community in Prekmurje. In his will Farkaš destined a considerable part of his fortune to his countrymen and their religious and educational institutions. Farkaš was one of the most learned, distinguished and influential Lutheran intellectuals in Prekmurje in the 18th century.

      • Med reprezentanti vzhodnoslovenskega protestantskega gibanja zavzema posebno mesto pedagog in metodik Adam Farkaš (1730—1786).
