Description
In credit contracts that were registered in the Republic of Dubrovnik by public notaries in a specialized notarial series Debita notariae there are often mentioned goods by means of which debtors paid their debts. The picture of Bosnian lead wil not be complete on the basis of this material; nevertheless we can obtain answers to several open questions from it. The Bosnian lead trade represented an important part in the activity of tradesmen of Dubrovnik and Bosnia. The government of Dubrovnik, which was buying great quantities of lead for the need of the commune, especially for buying corn, also joined the lead trade. Besides lead, »terra gleto« - lead oxid (PbO), which was used in pottery, in painting porcelain and glass, and as dye, also began to be exported in bigger and bigger quantities from Bosnia in the 15th century. The tradesmen of Dubrovnik exported it to Alexandria, North Africa and Italy.

Dubrovčani so glaj izvažali v Aleksandrijo, severno Afriko in Italijo.
