Description
On the basis of the archive sources (mainly on the basis of notary series Debita notariae) the inclusion of the Vlach's from Herzegovina in the credit trade of medieval Dubrovnik is analyzed here. The investigation of the author of this article is limited to the 14th and 15th centuries. In some years the Vlachs took a very active part in the credit trade of Dubrovnik: however, there are also periods when the Vlachs cannot be found among debtors. The notaries usually made a notice about the family origin to which a Vlach, debtor, belonged. This is also one of the proofs that the process of teritorialization was taking place among the Vlachs. In some credit contracts goods which the Vlachs got on credit is mentioned, or else goods vvith vvhich they rendered their credit obligations. In the second half of the 15th century the Vlachs are also included in various trade societies.
