The author presents in this study the results of his investigation of trade connections between Slovene and Italian countries in the discussed period. He chiefly presents the role of transit trade between Hungarian and Italian countries dealing vvith skins and cattle in one way, and the Italian and other cloth and "levantine" material in the other way, as main products of this trade. The merchants from the Slovene countries dominated in the skin trade until about the middle of the 16th century, and until about the 70ies with cattle; since then foreign capital prevailed in this transit trade. Hovvever, many other events depended in the Slovene countries on the development of this trade.
