On May 30, 1917, the Austrian Parliament adopted, a declaration which a few months later triggered the so-called Declaration Movement reflecting the ever increasing desire of the Slovene people to unite with the other Southern Slavs in a political structure founded on constitutional law or in an entirely independent state. The present article is an attempt to describe, analyze and evaluate this Movement.
