In the light of
hitherto unused sources kept in the Vienna Archives, some new aspects
of the political attitude of the Austrian Governments and the Imperial
Court Circles of Vienna towards the Slovenes during World War I, are
dealt with. The author describes the struggle of the Slovenes against
this political attitude and discusses the growth of the feeling among
Slovenes that in order to preserve their national indenpendence they would
have to become politically independent and unite with other Southern
Slavs in an internationally recognized state of their own.
