In 2001, based on the exchange of archives agreement, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia (ARS) handed over to
the Carinthian Provincial Archives in Klagenfurt (CPA) various types of archives. Included among them were 21 parchment
deeds dating back to the 15th to 17th centuries. The exchange ceremony was symbolically held at the CPA in Klagenfurt and
the archives were handed over to dr. Jörg Haider, Provincial Governor of Carinthia, by Andreja Rihter, the Slovene Ministr
of Culture at the time.
As to their content, the transferred deeds refer to the region of Austrian Carinthia, in particular to the area south of
Klagenfurt and the Drava River. The only issue is posed by the sixth deed since its reference to the surrounding area of
Ljubljana make it possible for us to conclude that it was handed over by mistake.
Prior to their being handed over to CPA, the deeds had been included in chronological series of the Colleclion of deeds
(AS 1063) at the ARS, but have since their transfer been included in the Collection of deeds at the CPA. They are not yet
available to researchers, so the author saw it fit to present them to those who might take interest in them and at the same time
keep memory of arehives that once were kept in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia alive.
