Description
The article gives an account of the unfinished and unpublished manuscript of the Slovene translation of the New Testament by Matevž Ravnikar (1776-1845), the former bishop of Trieste and Koper (Capodistria). Considering the fact that Ravnikar enjoyed a high-ranking post within the church hierarcry and was even considered the father of the Slovene prose, the author attempts to establish why his work was never published, not even certain parts of it. The author offers several interpretations but places special emphasis on Ravnikar's commitment to Jansenism, whose approach to the Bible was somewhat different from the viewpoint of the formal Church.

      • Prispevek obravnava nedokončani in neobjavljeni rokopis slovenskega prevoda nove zaveze nekdonjega tržaško-koprskega škofa Matevža Ravnikarja (1776-1845).
