Basing his research on the oldest known list of seigniorial records of the Podčetrtek and Hartenštajn joint seigniories, which dates back to 1758, the author aims to determine which administrative books were at the time used in the process of managing these seigniories, and what exactly is the state of their preservation today. Special attention is being paid to the three most important fonds that, in addition to the said books, include the rest of the preserved records from Podčetrtek and Hartenštajn. The compilation of detailed historical outlines of archival fonds, i. e. the process of accompanying older records from the time of their creation to the time of their storage in proper archival institutions, is relatively rare in the Slovene archival science. Such neglect should hardly be tolerated, particularly in view of the fact that such outlines can up to a certain degree answer the question of why so few or so many of certain records have been preserved. The appeal of the entire matter should also be kept in mind, since certain records had gone through a lot before reaching proper archival institution and sometimes even after that.
